7/18/2024 Fishing Report
Ok, that was just ridiculous. But the worst of the rain is over and fishing is about to be back on.
The first reports from this morning are that Sheep Creek is already fishing very well for Dollies. With the rain over and the rivers dropping things are looking super promising. There should be loads of spawning chums in the creeks and the Dollies will not be too picky on the color of beads they want. I would try fishing 10mm beads for the first couple days. Fish Creek and Montana Creek should be fishable by this evening or tomorrow and Cowee probably a day later.
In other exciting news, we are bringing back the First Coho of the Season contest! The fish must come off the road system, no boats, not even to fish the road system! You have to be fishing on foot. First picture submitted to us with a FLY in its mouth will win. This year the first coho on a fly will get one of our new super deluxe hooded sweatshirts.
Remember, let's try and harvest the hatchery fish and release the wild ones to go spawn. Once the coho season is fully under way we are going to have a second contest with a killer prize. We will announce the details in our August 1st newsletter. Stay tuned.
As always, we love featuring your photos for our fishing reports. If you have a great fish, scenery, or action photo that has to do with fishing around town send it our way! You can email photos or videos to cory@alaskaflyfishinggoods.com. Please remember to handle fish with care, especially if you are practicing catch and release. Consider getting a net with a rubber basket to help land fish quickly, pinch your barbs and keep them in the water until you are ready to snap a quick photo.
See you on the water!
